Briefing with 5 News

We’ll be hearing from Jess Bulman, Deputy Editor of 5 News. This is a one hour long, daily news programme broadcast at 5pm every weekday on Channel 5, and made by a dedicated team based at ITN. The show is currently getting its biggest audiences ever, with a growing number of young viewers.

This programme is very different from any other news show and is getting increasing attention. It has a distinctive style and approach, and is deftly presented by Dan Walker, formerly of BBC Breakfast. It has a strong focus on stories that its audience can relate to. Whilst international content is important, it is predominantly UK focused.

Jess will talk to us about how the programme is put together and opportunities to work with her and her colleagues. She’s keen to develop better relations with NGOs. Whilst most of our briefings focus on international content, we are making an exception with this one. Many of our members work in the UK and therefore have access to a lot of UK-based stories. These may have particular appeal to Jess and her colleagues.
